9/8/14 - 9/12/14 Monday- Reviewed absolute value with students. Continued working on adding positive and negative numbers.  Students worked on modeling three additions problems from workbook page 21.  When completed students turned these in for a grade. Tuesday- Absolute value quiz retakes.  Introduction of subtracting positive and negative numbers.  Students wrote the rules for solving integer subtraction problems on a graphic organizer in their notebooks.  Students were to complete workbook page 23 ALL, and workbook page 24 they were to pick three.  Students also had to draw models for 5 problems of their choice on page 23. Wednesday- Students will be working more on modeling addition and subtraction integer problems.  We will also begin multiplying integers. Students will complete workbook page 27 All, and page 28 All for homework. Thursday- Students will divide integers.  Students will complete workbook page 29 All, and workbook page 30 all.  We will spend time reviewing the rules for integers and working out problems. Friday- We will review for 15-20 minutes then students will have an integer quiz.  Any student who has makeup work will complete it after the quiz.  Students will be able to play an integer card game once all students have finished.

WEEK 9/8/14 - 9/12/14 This week students are working on root words and prefixes. They are also working on using information in a text to draw conclusions and make inferences.  We will read The Drive in Movies in class, and complete all workbook pages that accompany the story.   Students are going to be reading a story at home, The Market Square Dog.  Students are to complete the workbook pages that are associated with that story for homework. Students are also going to be keeping all of their vocabulary in a one subject spiral notebook.  This week they have 12 words.  On Thursday when their vocabulary is due they will turn in their notebook. On Friday students will have a vocabulary quiz.  They will also be given a cold passage, and have to answer questions focusing on the skill of drawing conclusions and making inferences.

Students are to complete two activities from their vocabulary menu to turn in tomorrow.  Several students decided to make matching games.  We will use those games tomorrow to help us study our vocabulary words.  We will be having a spelling quiz on Friday.  We have also been working on structure of plot.  We will continue to work on plot on Thursday, and will have a short quiz on plot on Friday.  I explained to students that the plot quiz they are going to take Friday will not be on the story The Homecoming.  Student will instead be given a short passage and have to answer plot related questions about that passage.

Students need to continue working on their vocabulary homework due Thursday.  Students are to complete two squares of their vocabulary menu.  They must also include all 6 vocabulary words in each square's activity.
